അരിയില് ഷുക്കൂര് വധക്കേസില് സിപിഎം നേതാവ് പി ജയരാജനെ അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തതിന് പിന്നാലെ 2012 ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 1നായിരുന്നു കേസിനാസ്പദമായ സംഭവം. ഒരു യൂത്ത് കോണ്ഗ്രസ് പ്രവര്ത്തകനെ മര്ദിക്കുന്നുവെന്ന വിവരമറിഞ്ഞെത്തിയ പോലീസ് വാഹനത്തിന് നേരേ രണ്ടുബൈക്കുകളിലായെത്തിയ സംഘമാണ് ബോംബെറിഞ്ഞത്. കേസില് ആകെ 4 പ്രതികളാണുണ്ടായിരുന്നത്. മറ്റു രണ്ടുപ്രതികളെ കോടതി വെറുതെവിട്ടു.
