അടിവസ്ത്രം തിരിമറിക്കേസിൽ ആന്റണി രാജുവിന് എംഎൽഎ പദവി നഷ്ടമായി; വിജ്ഞാപനം പുറത്തിറക്കി

രണ്ടു വർഷത്തിൽ കൂടുതൽ ഏതെങ്കിലും കോടതി ശിക്ഷിച്ചാൽ ആ ജനപ്രതിനിധി അയോഗ്യനാവുമെന്ന സുപ്രീം കോടതിയുടെ വിധിയാണ് ആന്റണി രാജുവിനും ബാധകമായത്. അതേസമയം ആന്റണി രാജുവിനു തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിൽ മത്സരിക്കാനും അയോഗ്യത നേരിടേണ്ടിവരും. ശിക്ഷ പൂർത്തിയാക്കി ജയിലിൽനിന്ന് ഇറങ്ങുന്ന ദിവസം മുതൽ ആറു വർഷത്തേക്കാണ് അയോഗ്യത. ‌‌‌ ‌‌

1951ലെ ജനപ്രാതിനിധ്യ നിയമത്തിലെ സെക്‌ഷൻ 8 (3) അനുസരിച്ചാണ് അയോഗ്യത. ആന്റണി രാജുവിനും കോടതി മുൻ ജീവനക്കാരനായ ജോസിനും തൊണ്ടിമുതല്‍ തിരിമറിക്കേസില്‍ 3 വർഷമാണ് കോടതി തടവ് ശിക്ഷ വിധിച്ചത്. നെടുമങ്ങാട് ജുഡീഷ്യല്‍ ഫസ്റ്റ് ക്ലാസ് മജിസ്‌ട്രേട്ട് കോടതിയുടേതാണ് വിധി.
