അന്വേഷണത്തിന്‍റെ ഭാഗമായി ബുധനാഴ്ച മൃതദേഹം പുറത്തെടുത്ത് പോസ്റ്റ്മോർട്ടം നടത്തും. ഭക്ഷണം കൊണ്ടുവന്നപ്പോൾ അമ്മ അനക്കമില്ലാതെ കിടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു എന്നാണ് ഗിരീഷ് പോലീസിനോട് പറഞ്ഞത്.

ഗിരീഷിന്റെ ഭാര്യ പിണങ്ങി മറ്റൊരിടത്താണ് താമസം. അവിടെ പോയി മക്കളെ വിളിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. അമ്മൂമ്മ മരിച്ചു എന്നാണ് അവരോട് പറഞ്ഞത്. വരുന്ന വഴി മൺവെട്ടി വാങ്ങി. മൃതദേഹം കുഴിച്ചിട്ടശേഷം അടുപ്പുകല്ല് മുകളിൽവച്ചു. ആരോടും ഇക്കാര്യം പറഞ്ഞില്ല. കുട്ടികൾ വീട്ടിലെത്തിയപ്പോൾ അമ്മയോട് വിവരം പറഞ്ഞു. തുടർന്ന്, ഗിരീഷിന്റെ ഭാര്യ അയൽവാസിയെ വിവരം അറിയിച്ചു. അവർ കുത്തിയതോട് പോലീസിനെ അറിയിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
